Waiheke United's U9 Stingrays returned to Mt Albert, this time playing Metro FC Borussia Dortmund, coming away with a 9-0 win. Bailey van der Speck opened the scoring after a couple of minutes with a skillfully executed goal. Nikolai Prusso continued to shine as striker with two further goals following in quick succession. Alena Jennings, Zoe McAllum and Lucio Florián Herguis continually thwarted Metro's attempts to get the ball into their half, with Lucio flying down the field to slot in the 4th goal. Nikolai was then back in action scoring again to get his hatrick. Metro FC were unlucky to finish the first half with an own goal.
In the second half, the mid-field of Kit Stafford-Waldner and Seb Taylor displayed some fancy footwork, revelling in the play. Oskar Ernst was living his best life on attack and unlucky not to score on multiple occasions. Bailey continued his strong form scoring two more goals to also achieve a hatrick. Harry Williams struck the ball beautifully into the back of the net to get his first goal of the season. Shea Horgan was amongst the action and continues to grow in confidence with each game.
Martha Harrop and George Jones didn't see a lot of action in goal but when the play made it to Metro's half they were solid in defence.
Player of the day went to Alena Jennings for her huge game on the hustle.
